Work, Ike, and Life as I know it

hello, xanga people!  did you miss me?  i would have updated, but i've been working.  that's right, morgan has a job.  i'm sure hundreds of questions pop into your mind.  questions like....

where do you work?
why i work at walgreens, silly!  where else?

what do you do?
i am an assistant manager, which means that i basically keep everything this side of the pharmacy counter running.  handling money, customers, running the place, etc.  i'll still be in training for quite a while, but for the most part i do just about everything except make the schedule and do payroll.

do you like your job?
yeah.  since hurricane ike hit i've been really busy, but i'm expecting that to ease off a little.  the other people working there are awesome, there's alot of variety to the work, and with the exception of two people, i hold the highest rank in the store.

coolest thing you've learned?
how to develop photos.  i know it sounds boring, but as a geek, i am fascinated by such things.

met any famous people?
neal mccoy comes through the store occasionally, but i had met him before (lives in longview), so i don't really know if that counts.

least favorite part so far?
after ike ravaged the town, we lost power for 3 days.  in that time, we lost all of our ice cream and other cooler goods.  i knew that the ice cream had been thrown in the dumpster, but no one told me about the rest.  wednesday morning, i had to go open the dumpster for the trash pickup (we keep it locked).  that is the second worst smell i have ever experienced.  the first worst smell was experienced right after that, when it was pointed out to me that all of the frozen food and such had been put into plastic boxes and put out to bake in the sun, and that all of those boxes had to be dumped into the trash.  it was horrible.

other than that, not alot is going on in my world.  my fiance (whom i see far too little of) and i have set a date for the wedding, reserved the place, and started registering places so all of my friends (you guys) know what to buy us.  when you look on the lists and see things like a pez despencer or a massage chair, think of me.

blessed,
mo

so it's been a while since i've posted anything.  quite a while.  i guess life and facebook just kind overshadowed the ever beloved xanga.  the times they are a changing.  so, update time.

i am free of the bonds of SFA.  graduation has come, gone, and left me with an 8.5x11 sheet of paper signifying the past four years of hard work, friends, good times, and crappy times.  a little anticlimactic, but what are you gonna do?

so far the summer has been spent in colorado with the krystal and the kings (sounds like a motown band), job hunting, video gaming, and becoming closer to my ipod.  right now i'm in indiana hanging with my mother's parents and siblings.  it's been nice to get out of texas, but i think that i'm about ready to head home.

and for now, that's my life.  exciting, huh?

ps.  and for those reading this, comment if you like and i'll try to remember to reply, but you will have better luck with my phone or facebook.

it's been almost two months since i posted on this thing.  life just kinda picked up speed there for a bit and i was so busy living life i forgot to tell the people what has been going on.  i've been turning in an insane amount of work lately trying to get ready for graduation.  finals are this week.  nothing too traumatic, just tedious.  then graduation on saturday, and then into the future.  we'll see what that holds.
i've become really introspective lately.  i do this around the end of every semester, but more so with the ending of my time at school looming on the horizon.  i begin to miss friends of olden days (though no less friends), ponder where i've been, where i'm headed, etc.  i'm moving home on saturday, and then begins the hunt for a job.  i'm not in a particular rush (i could use a break), i just don't do the whole sit-idly-around-the-house thing very well anymore.  growing up, i suppose.
i thought i had more to right.
guess who was wrong...

My Brain has a Mind of Its Own....

i was on my way back to town today after i got off work when i started thinking over a problem i have had since i bought my ipod; how am i going to hook this up to my truck?  i have looked at fm transmitters (expensive and don't work well), tape adapters (ugly), and new radios (expensive and i would have to give up my disc changer).  so i decided today that i would make my own adapter.  my disc changer hooks up via two RCA cables and the cable that carries the instructions from the radio.  if i could put a switch on the RCA cables, i could hook two devices to the same line and use my ipod with my current equipment.  but that would be a lot of trouble, and i don't have a saughtering iron right now.  then it came to me... why not use an input selector for a tv (one of those things you plug your dvd/vcr/games into and flip a switch to pick what you want to use).  those things use RCA cables.  so i spent some time thinking it out, deciding how to do the wiring, and bought the supplies.  half an hour later, my ipod is hooked to my radio with tv parts.  the way i ran the wires doesn't look bad, and i can push a button and switch between cd's and my ipod.  huzzah!

now i just need a holster to sit my ipod in so it doesn't fly around.  i'm trying to figure out how to do this with a metal hanger...
